The wooden table in the blue room was the correct distance away from the sofa at either end. The fact that there was an empty chair there at all was a hint that he had not yet moved from his present position. Also, the chair seemed to have a kind of hollow look about it, something earthy and barren, and the blue of the walls reminded me of the loveliest lake in my home town.
